Tuyen Lam SUP for First-Timers: Swimming & Clothing FAQs

Curious about SUP in Da Lat but unsure about swimming, balance or what to wear? A first lake outing should begin with a conversation about your confidence and needs, not pressure to copy a standing pose from a photograph.

01 · Do I need previous SUP experience?

Tell us you are a beginner when you enquire. Highland Sport Travel can discuss a guided half-day Tuyen Lam Lake session with instruction appropriate to the group. Your guide explains the equipment and the plan before the activity. Progress depends on conditions and the guide’s assessment; a photograph is never a reason to move beyond your ability.

02 · What if I cannot swim or feel nervous in water?

Explain your swimming ability and water confidence before paying. A buoyancy aid does not replace a suitability assessment or remove water risks. We need to discuss the activity with you and decide what arrangement is appropriate. Do not rely on a general “beginners welcome” label as approval for your individual situation.

03 · Must I stand on the board immediately?

Ask the guide about the positions suitable for your session. Building confidence comes before standing for photographs. Stay with the agreed instructions and group, and let the guide decide when to progress. If SUP does not suit you, ask about a kayak option or a shore-based coffee visit; availability, suitability and charges are separate checks.

04 · What should I wear and bring?

Sportswear that lets you move comfortably and a dry change of clothes are useful. A swimsuit is optional. Discuss footwear and modest clothing before the trip so the guide can check compatibility with equipment. Bring sun protection, drinking water and a way to protect small belongings. Confirm what your booking supplies rather than assuming every item is included.

05 · Can children or older relatives join?

Send ages, swimming ability, mobility and relevant concerns before booking. There is no blanket promise that every child or older guest can join the same session. Ask about the activity’s requirements and available equipment. Those who prefer to remain ashore can discuss a separate lakeside visit, but children still need an agreed supervision arrangement.

06 · Can we visit Suoi Tia and have coffee afterwards?

Discuss your preferred route in advance. Time on the water and the route depend on conditions, your group and the guide’s decision; a particular flooded-forest photo spot is not guaranteed. Our SUN Forest area offers a base for arranging lake time and coffee. Coffee is around VND 90,000 per cup including site access, with SUP or kayak services booked separately.
